Antwerp Airport provides special attention and services for passengers with special needs or reduced mobility in order to travel comfortably. One of the priorities of the airport is to provide an infrastructure which is supporting all kind of passengers.
The passengers terminal is designed with additional attention for passengers with reduced mobility. Antwerp Airport is offering automatic doors at the departure and arrival doors. Passengers can easily reach the boarding area. Boarding and arrival area are also equipped with automatic doors. Furthermore, elevators, dropped kerbs, disabled parking spaces, disabled toilets and wide doorways are available to use Antwerp Airport in a comfortable way.
Facilities for passengers with reduced mobility or special needs are clearly marked using the standard international symbols.
Also for future projects and developments, Antwerp Airport will have additional attention for passengers with special needs or reduced mobility in order to make their journey more enjoyable.
Passengers with reduced mobility who travel alone may apply for special assistance to help them move through the airport. Requests for this service need to be made at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled departure or arrival time through your airline or travel agent.
In case of travelling with your own collapsible or powered wheelchair, we recommend to contact your airline or travel agent in advance. They need to inform you about any rules which may apply at the departure and arrival airport. In addition, passengers need to check if their own collapsible or powered wheelchair is allowed to be taken on board of the aircraft or in the hold luggage.

Antwerp Airport and Indigo has put a lot of attention to disabled passengers coming to the airport with their own car. Every car park provides dedicated parking spaces marked with the standard “Disabled Parking Only” sign. These spaces are located as close as possible to the exits of the car parks. In order to make use of these parking spaces, the vehicle needs to display an official disabled parking permit.

Wheelchairs are available upon request for use during your stay at the airport. If you request special assistance through your airline or travel agent, the wheelchair will be reserved and made available upon arrival at the airport.
If you are travelling with your own collapsible or powered wheelchair, please contact your airline at least 48 hours in advance to inform you about the rules which may apply. Some restrictions may apply at the departure or arrival airport or for taking your wheelchair on board of the aircraft. For example, wheelchairs with ‘wet’ batteries are usually not permitted on aircrafts because they fall into the category of hazardous substances.
There are also some restrictions regarding the dimensions of the wheelchairs depending of the aircraft the airline is using.
We also recommend you allow sufficient time at the airport.
