Coronavirus: Preventive measures

In response to the coronavirus outbreak in China and all other viruses we provide you some preventive measures;
Transmission of the coronavirus is likely to be similar to that of the flu virus and happens via the respiratory tract. This can occur by directly inhaling infected droplets from coughing, sneezing, talking, or by direct contact with surfaces and especially with the hands on which these droplets end up. The virus can then be transmitted via the hands to the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose and eyes.

1. You have to respect precisely the measures of social distance that apply to the Belgian territory: this is at least 1.5 metres between persons except persons living under the same roof

2. Apply good hand hygiene: wash or disinfect your hands regularly

3. Apply good cough and sneeze hygiene -> sneeze in a handkerchief and throw it away In the absence of a handkerchief, sneeze in your arm and not in your hand

4. Touch the face, mouth or nose as little as possible with the hands

5. Do not put your travel documents in your mouth while waiting

6. Pay attention to food hygiene (always wash hands before eating)

7. Avoid close contact with living and dead animals

8. Avoid close contact with people who cough and sneeze

9. It is best not to shake hands or kiss to greet at the moment

10. Only essential displacements are allowed (commuting, supermarket, doctor…)

11. Telework is the norm 12. Wearing mouth masks is mandatory on public transport for persons from 12 years old and highly recommended in airports, passenger flights, taxis, in public places with many people and in any place where respecting the minimum distance of 1.5 metres is not possible

13. Stay in your home/hotel when you are sick and contact your doctor by phone (do NOT go to the doctor nor to the emergency room)
